Paradiso

Private commission executed in marble and bronze. A paraphrase in three stages of the mythological Midgard Serpent, with reference to The Divine Comedy by Dante, in which the protagonist journeys through Hell and Purgatory to ultimately reach Heaven, PARADISO.

Christian Lemmerz’ three-part sculptural installation is developed in response to the building’s spatial layout and architecture, reflecting the client’s wish to create an artistic sequence that connects the building’s wings through a continuous narrative. A paraphrase of the mythological tale of the Midgard Serpent, the work unfolds as a creation story described in three stages: coming into being, propagation, and the passage of generations.
