Christian Lemmerz2017
Büste (I)

Kul og farve på papir
85 x 110 cm.
Büste (I) is a powerful charcoal and pigment drawing in which Christian Lemmerz explores the fragility and dissolution of the human form. The skull-like head is mapped with expressive, almost anatomical lines that feel as though they trace veins, fractures, or emotional ruptures. The figure seems caught between presence and disappearance, emerging and eroding in the same moment.
Lemmerz’ raw, gestural mark-making creates a sense of existential exposure, as if the body has been stripped down to its psychic and physical essence. The secondary, faint figure in the background deepens this tension by echoing the main form like an afterimage or memory. The work is both intimate and confrontational — a meditation on mortality, identity, and the traces that make us human.
