The images offer an overall view of the exhibition "Selected Works by Christian Lemmerz 2021–2025" at Galleri Franz Pedersen. The photo series captures the exhibition’s visual atmosphere and mood.
Christian Lemmerz’s works often take the human figure as a starting point—not as portrait or narrative, but as form and condition. The body appears vulnerable, distorted or fragmented, caught in a state between presence and dissolution. His practice is frequently informed by references to religion, mythology, and antiquity.

Iconography
In this exhibition, one example is the sculpture La Beata—a kind of torso that reinterprets Polykleitos’ iconic Greek sculpture Doryphoros. While the male original radiates calm and a kind of harmonious tension, Christian Lemmerz’s female version conveys pride and unbroken spirit, despite wounds and mutilation. She is a survivor, a figure of resistance.
The other major bronze figure in the exhibition merges the two archetypal motifs Pietà and Medea—a raw and brutal treatment of the theme of motherhood. The painting Girl with Cross draws inspiration from both slasher films and religious painting.
These are just a few indications of the diversity within the works, yet they all strive to remain ambiguous and insist on their silence.
