Market Art Fair - Stockholm

Galleri Franz Pedersen looks forward to participating in Market Art Fair in Stockholm – one of the most significant art fairs for contemporary art in the Nordic region. Each year, the fair brings together a strong selection of Nordic galleries and attracts collectors, curators, and art enthusiasts from both Denmark and abroad. For the gallery, Market Art Fair is an important platform for presenting our artists in an international context and creating new encounters between the artworks and an engaged audience. We look forward to presenting a curated selection of works that reflect the gallery’s artistic profile and to being part of the ongoing dialogue surrounding the contemporary Nordic art scene.

Vernissage:Friday d. 23 April 15:00
Exhibition period:23/04/2026-26/04/2026

About the Gallery

Galleri Franz Pedersen was founded in 1982 by Franz Pedersen, who ran it together with his wife, Eva Sinding. In 2007, their son Kasper Pedersen took over the leadership after fifteen years in the gallery. In 2019, Kasper’s wife Kamille and their son Arthur joined the gallery as the third generation.

In its early years, the gallery represented prominent figures in Danish contemporary art such as Wilhelm Freddie, Svend W. Hansen, and Sven Dalsgaard. In the late 1980s, artists associated with De Unge Vilde – including Michael Kvium, Christian Lemmerz, and Lise Malinovsky – became part of the program. Over time, the roster has expanded to also include the late Jean Rustin, Jacob Rantzau, Christoffer M. Andersen, Jacob Brostrup, Maria Rubinke, among others.

Under Kasper’s leadership, the gallery has strengthened its profile. Today, its concept is based on a clear vision: to present contemporary art of high quality and to serve as a link between artists, collectors, and the public – with a particular focus on project-based initiatives.

The Artists

Michael Kvium (b. 1955) conjures in his paintings a kind of theatre of cruelty populated by representatives of humanity, revealing what he calls “the naked truth.” Kvium tests the limits of how far one can go in portraying the rawness and grotesque aspects of our time. In doing so, he maintains a strong connection between the work and the viewer. There is nothing wrong with Kvium – it is the times.
