In Absent Presence, Jacob Brostrup allows human figures to emerge from and almost disappear into dense, abundant vegetation. Bodies, faces, and plants intertwine within a complex pictorial space, blurring the boundary between the human figure and the natural world. Deep blues and greens are punctuated by warmer reddish tones, creating an intense, dreamlike atmosphere. The work revolves around presence and absence—what is immediately visible and what only gradually reveals itself.
