In Love Child, Frederik Næblerød brings together the grotesque and the playful in a unique bronze sculpture with an immediate, almost childlike expression. Its heavily textured, hand-modelled surface preserves the artist’s physical gestures, while the elongated nose, protruding tongue, and hollow eyes create a striking balance of vulnerability, defiance, and humour. Existing somewhere between portrait, mask, and imaginary creature, the sculpture is a compelling example of Næblerød’s expressive sculptural language.
